Mr. Burgess is a distinguished professional who brings to Rune more than 30 years of experience in the information security sector. Christopher Burgess (@burgessct) is the Chief Security Officer and President Global Public Sector for Atigeo LLC, a Compassionate Technology company. Prior to joining Atigeo, he served as the senior security advisor to the chief security officer of Cisco, preceded by a career spanning more than 30 years as a senior national security executive. Having lived and worked in South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Central Europe and Latin America, he acquired an understanding of people, cultures, and issues affecting those societies. Christopher is an often sought speaker and lecturer on the threats to intellectual property, security aspects of social media, security strategy, security education and awareness, and the prevention of industrial espionage.
Mr. Burgess is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post, beginning with his piece "A common sense approach to social media" and co-authored "Secrets Stolen, Fortunes Lost: Preventing Intellectual Property Theft and Economic Espionage in the 21st Century". While at Cisco, he authored, "Social Media: The efficacy of the corporate guide" a discussion on why every company needs one. Christopher advocates through his personal blogs BurgessCT and Veritate et Virtute for online safety for the young and elderly, as well as, those who suffer from hunger, slavery and health issues in the United States and abroad. He sits on a number of advisory boards, including Mayo Clinic's Social Media external advisory board, Social Smarts, Love Our Children USA, and SC Magazine.
